VOLANTE brings together a critical number of leading European scientific institutions in the area of assessment of land resource management and land use change. The 14 partners represent the entire geographical variety of Europe. All partners bring expertise and experience from many earlier EU-wide projects in the area of climate change to the project. This does not only include research projects, but also projects in support of policy development and stakeholder participation, important features of VOLANTE. In addition to multi- and interdisciplinary experience, they incorporate a vast range of disciplinary expertise relevant for the subject matter, including economics, political science, engineering, policy analysis, environmental sciences, climatology, hydrology, physics, numerical modelling. The VOLANTE consortium strongly benefits from existing cooperation in two international networks, the IGBP/IHDP Global Land Project and LANDSCAPE EUROPE International Network of Expertise on Landscapes, both active in the area of land resource management and land use change.
